Elite Week secures services of perennial winner.

Red Star Elite Week 2025 is delighted to announce that Coach Samit Nuruzade has signed on for our inaugural camp this summer.

Elite Week 2025 continues to build an elite coaching roster with the addition of Samit Nuruzade. Currently the Head Coach of the highly-successful Reading Rockets, Coach Nuruzade is one of the winningest coaches in the Basketball England National League over the last two decades.
The former professional player had significant influence in the development of some of the Manchester Magic's finest generations and his multiple tenures at Reading and his time as an assistant at Leeds both in the National League and the BBL have seen him consistently deliver silverware. Known as a master tactician and incredibly technical coach, he has significantly impacted the landscape of domestic basketball in the UK. Samit has also presided over him home nation's national team in Azerbaijan in both the 5x5 and 3x3 formats, as well as working as a technical consultant for the development of coaches.
Director Matt Newby was excited about the proposition of securing the services of one of the hottest properties in the domestic market:

His understanding of the game and his technical and tactical knowledge are unsurpassed in the domestic game and furthermore, he has been responsible for developing a number of England and GB athletes. Most importantly, his ability to maximise an individuals potential is well-documented and I look forward to how he will compliment the elite staff we have on camp this year."
Ahead of the inaugural Elite Week Camp in 2025, Coach Nuruzade was delighted to return to Leeds this summer:
“I'm very excited to be with Red Star Elite Week this year. I have a long history working with Coach Newby in Leeds and I am so pleased that the camps have developed such a strong heritage of the Serbian Basketball School. I have missed the last few years due to family commitments, so I am looking forward to being back for the first ever Elite Week, working with and learning from a special group of coaches and players.
