Are there any additional costs that we should be aware of and how much money should my child bring to camp?

Upon arrival as a residential camper you will need to place a £15.00 pound deposit down on receipt of the key to your room. This is a policy of the host site and deposits are refunded on return of the key at the end of the week. It is suggested that campers will normally bring £25.00 to £30.00 to camp for purchasing items from the camp store which includes snacks at night and exclusive Red Star apparel. We have a camp bank system in place which allows the camper to deposit an amount safely and throughout the week they can use it to purchase items, with any credit at the end of the week refunded.

What medical supervision is available?

On site, there is strong first aid provision from both Leeds Beckett University facility staff and there is a designated first aider at each court from amongst the camps staff. Additionally we will have Sports Therapists for the duration of camp and one dedicated physio all of whom work from 09:00 to 21:00. On the evening we have designated first aiders among our pastoral staff and a designated driver should the need arise to travel to the local hospital which is 5 minutes from the residential site.

What should I do about valuables?

We suggest that you do not bring valuable items with you such as IPAD’s / Tablets or Laptops, but appreciate that the majority of young people will have a smart phone. We suggest that your mobile phone is locked safely in your room and only used in the morning or evening. With money, please deposit with the camp bank. Throughout the week, the campers can purchase food, drinks and apparel from the camp store.

Can I visit my son or daughter at camp?

Parents and coaches can make requests to visit us at camp while activities are in session between 09:00 and 21:00, simply let the administration know via email that you wish to attend and give us a window of time that you would be planning to visit. We will then endeavour to arrange a visit if availability allows.

This is subject to Basketball England's and Leeds Beckett University's official COVID guidance at the time of camp.

What is the cancellation policy if the camp cannot go ahead?

If a situation arises where Red Star Camp UK 2024 cannot proceed as planned, then all participants will be entitled to credit that can be used towards the rescheduled Red Star UK camp. If a full refund is preferred then this option will be available also.
