Red Star Elite Week 2025 is delighted to announce that Coach Chris Mayes will fly in from the United States for the inaugural Elite Week 2025.
Coach Mayes is one of the highest-calibre British coaches on the basketball landscape and has enjoyed a career spanning over 11 different countries, working at the Junior elite, pro, NCAA and National Team Levels. He joins Elite Week and returns to Leeds for the first time since our inaugural Red Star Camp in 2018 as he continues to forge his career in the US.
Director Matt Newby was feeing confident that Coach Mayes would bring years of experience to the court with an unrivalled passion to teach the game:
"It’s great to have a high-quality British Coach such as Chris as a lock for this year’s camp and I look forward to him bringing his expertise to the floor. Chris has a wealth of experience in basketball influenced by both Europe and the USA, and has an incredible knowledge of the basketball landscape as a whole. Our campers can look forward to high-level teaching, with a focus on developing the individual player.”
Ahead of the inaugural Elite Week Camp in 2025, Coach Mayes was excited to finally return to Leeds:
